The Spongebob Musical Live on Stage!
The hit Broadway Musical comes to life in the comfort of your own living room! To help promote the Spongebob Musical Matt and the Promos team traveled to England where the Musical was being filmed and created an wealth of content that helped make the Musical a ratings hit. Below is just a highlight of the over 100 pieces that were made to promote the Musical.
Count Down Promo String Out
The Countdown Promos were used to help build anticipation for the Premier of the Musical. The sting out presented above was made using show clips and footage picked up in partnership with the show team using their crane.
Squidward Promo
This :30 promo find the Musical’s Squidward (Gavin Lee) giving the Nickelodeon audience a close up look at one of the most unique costumes in musical history, the double legs that make up Squidward’s tentacles.
Spongebob Mini Series Episode
This episode of the Musical Mini-Series finds the two Spongebobs colliding! Ethan Slater (The Musical’s Spongebob) talks to Patchy the Pirate (Tom Kenny who is also the voice of Spongebob on the cartoon) about the musical. Each episode of the Mini Series had a thread of Patchy trying to get a ticket to the show, leading up to a curtain raiser before the show of Patchy getting the ticket. We filmed this at the theater the Musical was being filmed at and created the set with extra prop scraps to create a unique look for the mini-series.
Squidward Mini Series Episode
This episode of the Musical Mini-Series finds the show stopping Squidward (Gavin Lee) talking about his big number as well as reinacting some of Squidward’s most iconic dances from the Cartoon. Each episode of the Mini Series had a thread of Patchy trying to get a ticket to the show, leading up to a curtain raiser before the show of Patchy getting the ticket. We filmed this at the theater the Musical was being filmed at and created the set with extra prop scraps to create a unique look for the mini-series.
Plankton Mini Series Episode
This episode of the Musical Mini-Series finds the microscopic megalomaniac Plankton (Wesley Taylor) talking about his speed rap game to Patchy the Pirate. Each episode of the Mini Series had a thread of Patchy trying to get a ticket to the show, leading up to a curtain raiser before the show of Patchy getting the ticket. We filmed this at the theater the Musical was being filmed at and created the set with extra prop scraps to create a unique look for the mini-series.
Patchy Gets A Ticket Mini Series
The last episode of the mini series aired as the curtain raiser to the musical. Views who saw the mini series episodes during the week finally get to see Patchy get his very own giant check sized ticket!
Ethan (Spongebob) Promo String Out
The string out of the two promos see Spongebob the Musical’s Star Ethan Slater bugging Squidward in classic Spongebob fashion, and teaching the audience the Bikini Bottom Pledge. The :30 promos aired during the week leading up to the musical.
Musical Mini Series Cutdown Stringouts
To give the audience a behind the scenes look we created a “Mini-Series” that would air during the week leading up to the special, with cut-downs airing the day of the show. Above is a string out of all of the cut-downs with the full pieces available below.
Patrick Mini Series Episode
This episode of the Musical Mini-Series finds the Musical’s Patrick Star (Danny Skinner) talking to Patchy about the best friend dance he and Ethan do in the show and saying some of his favorite lines from classic Spongebob cartoons. This episode of the Musical Mini-Series finds the cheapest crustacean in the seven seas, Mr. Krabbs (Brian Ray Norris) taking about his constant obsession, money! Brian also tries to teach Patchy the Mr. Krabbs laugh, and takes Patchy’s doubloons.
